Over the past several months, Prospect Technologies has noticed a dramatic increase in SPAM messages that daily come into our Secure Server Farm. And, as many of you know, we have been working to ‘tune’ our e-mail package to block SPAM while allowing ‘good’ messages to pass.

This has been a very difficult process to manage as the SPAMing tricks change continually and our old e-mail package was not able to nimbly keep abreast of these changes.

In March of 2008, Prospect Technologies instituted an in-house study to determine the best computer hardware (HW) and software (SW) we needed at our Secure Sever Farm to optimally provide better e-mail services to our numerous clients. Carefully considered were effectiveness of the SW, ease of use, price, and level of support from the vendor.

SmarterMail led the study in all these area, and I am pleased to announce that PT has now acquired the Enterprise version of SmarterMail for our clients. To run this powerful new system, we have obtained a new, high-powered server dedicated solely to running this e-mail package. SmarterMail came very highly recommended from many sources and our engineers have already found that it represents a quantum-leap forward.

How we will be implementing this change-over

Over the next several weeks, an engineer from Prospect Technologies will be contacting each of our e-mail clients and will work out a detailed transition plan to bring SmarterMail on-line. To most customers who use MS Outlook, for example, to read their e-mail, the only significant change will be some simple modifications in your set-up which, working with a PT engineer, should only take a few minutes of your time.

However, one of the great new advantages of SmartMail is a sophisticated Web mail interface that gives the user the ability to better screen SPAM from ‘good’ e-mail as many new features such as calendaring and managing your e-mail.

Specifically, over the next several weeks / months we will be contacting each of you to orchestrate the migration to our *NEW* e-mail system. Currently, it appears that the only settings that will have to change are your Account Name / Login Name and the Password. In some instances, Prospect Technologies may have to make some minor changes on your website coding. However, this will be quite easy and take little time once your transition is started.
